My Alk was low tested at 6 dkh, so I’m starting to dose to bring it back to 8.5 dkh, the TDS out is reading 002 from my RODI unit. Here are some pics of the corals. I dosed some red slime remover this morning. All other water parameters are in check.

Get your cutters out and remove all the coral that has cyano on it. Its dead and will not recover. During this process you should probably end up with a frag or two for backup while you get parms under wrap.

How did this happen?

Shading can and will cause death in some areas. Once it dies of, cyanobacteria can settle in. Having more flow can help. Trimming and fragging large colonies can help with light penetration or increasing light intensity a little can help.

Water pramameter swings can cause die off, but usually effects the whole coral/s.

You suggest I should get my rodi water to “0” TDS ?

If your RO/DI unit is producing more than "0", then yes. Changing out the pre sediment filter, carbon blocks and DI resin way be needed.

Pics that are not flooded with blue led woukd be very helpful. Looks like the coral has gotten big and may not be getting enough light and flow in the middle. Alk swing will cause rtn and stn. Alk stable at 6 is better than a fast increase to say 8-9. Slowly make any changes especially alk and lighting.

Changed my sediment filter from 1 micron to a .5 and replaced to a larger di resin compartment. Now I’m getting “0” TDS water
