Does anyone know what this is? How can I stop it? It’s my favorite coral that I’ve had from a small frag since I started. I really don’t want it to die. The first picture was this afternoon and the second one was ten hours later. It seems to me like it’s getting worse already. The bottom has been very slowly getting worse since I glued it on a week or two ago and I thought it was just glue but now realize it’s something bad. Is there anything I can do to save it?

Looks like shadowing to me, what lights are you using? Also what’s your tank parameters.

STN....you might have to cut a few frags off to make sure you can save it. If you can get it off the rock and dip it you might be able to stop it but I wouldn't risk it.
What would I dip it in? I think I will unfortunately have to frag it tomorrow. I was really hoping not to since this eight months of growth that I’ve been trying to get bigger for my first shoe size piece.

I’m using mars aqua black boxes. This has started happening really fast. It’s spread noticeably today and it’s been growing in the tank for eight months already. It could be possible to be shadowing but I don’t want to get my hopes up. I think I will probably have to frag it tomorrow to at least try to save all I can

Do you have any coral dips around? Iodine might work also.

I would maybe agree with shadowing depending on how fast you see the peeling.
I don’t have coral dips but I do have some rite aid iodine. I’d be nervous to use it though because last time I used it I killed my arrow crab in my tank and I haven’t heard much about using iodine for corals, especially rite aid iodine

Did you change anything in the lighting since you saw this peeling start?
I lowered my whites by five percent. It’s also under the center brace but higher up than it was before I moved it. I rearranged everything in the tank and took all the coral and water out to change my sand and redo the scape with more rock so I could finally glue stuff down. That was on May 22nd though.

Was your tank hot today? This has happened to my birdsnest if my tank gets above 80.

The bottom has been going on for a while. I didn’t test the temperature today but it wasn’t hot here today, recently it got to 83 instead of 80 but before that it got 86 for two weeks before I could get a controller.
