Typically how long does it take for a birdsnest to extend its polyps fully. I got a peice yesterday and did some fragging and spread it through out the tank. None of the peices have really extended. Is this something that shoukd happen quickly or does it take a few weeks to settle in? All water parameters are spot on. No fish in the tank at the moment as they are all in QT.

It may take time for the coral to acclimate to your tank and your lighting. Are you running any kind of acclimation on your lights? If not try turning them down just a bit and see if that helps. Also did you acclimate the coral to your water or just drop it in the tank? Give it a couple days. If it doesn't improve then i'd start chasing it.

I acclimated it for a about an hour. Its an area of the tanks thats par is about 220. I have the lights turned down 30% and ramping back up to normal over the next 3 weeks.

i think you should start the frags out in the bottom of the tank. Sounds like your tank is new and it also depends on what they were under previously. The polyps might take some time to show if the corals aren't too stressed but you might want to start them low and move them up slowly.

Tank has actually been up for a bit. Lost a 11 year old derasa clam that opened up out literally half of a 160 gallon tank so had some room to play with. Literally glued everything down to the rocks. Have peices of the birds basically everywhere. High, low, middle and they basically look all the same. The coral does seem a bit washed out probablly from being blasted with to much light at the lfs. Hopefully time will work out here.
