Well after a few days with the Leds everything seems to be super happy except the birds nest. he seems to have lost some color and does not have much extension . I have the leds on for 5 hrs from sunrise to sun set. with ramp time of 2 hrs. Whites are at 45%, Blues at 35% and royal blue at 35%... I moved him to a lower rock close to the bottom last night but still looks the same today.. What should i do?

here is a picture after i moved him down to the bottom

Tagging along...planning to set up my maxspect razor today. One sort of off the wall question: what is your water temp like? I imagine with your old lights (what were they?) generating heat from above, you had some sort of a temperature gradient from top to bottom. Is it possible the water used to be warmer where it was sitting than it is now under your LEDs? If it were temperature related, moving it to the bottom would cause more of a problem. If that's a possibility, you might consider using egg crate as a screen - maybe just cut a narrow strip to set on top of your tank to shade your more sensitive corals.

Remember when I told you to acclimate your corals? Start off with just 3 hours a day for a couple of days and slowly move it up. This will keep you from frying your corals. Also, you can just lose some color initially just because of the lighting change as a whole. But it should come back once they get used to the new light source.

My temperature has been pretty constant around 78-79.. i figured ther would be a little difference but i was only running 4 t5s when i switched to the LEDs.

ooo i just reread this and i see what i did.. i thought u meant 3 hrs first day then 4 hrs the next but i see know. 3 hrs for a few days and then 4 hrs for a few days...... Gosh i must be losing it lol i will turn them back down and follow the right instructions.

I will agree with what Chris said about losing some color initially, I have had the same problem with a few of mine as well under my LED's. I haven't lost anything, but some have taken longer then others to acclimate. Although I will say I haven't had problems with birdsnest, I have a pink and a green.

I'm switching from 4 bulbs to 6 in my mix reef any suggestions for place ment of softy sps and lps

To be honest, im new with the lighting and placement of corals myself. Hopefully Dowtish or Gmoney will give you some input.

yes.the swap to led is slow. I think it took me 2 weeks to ramp up to 10 hours @80% max before I even kicked on the other 1/2 of my leds.

LEDs are awesome, but what happens is you start trying to buy only from other hobbyists who also have LEDs, so you don't have to light acclimate.
