Birdsnest White?

I was gone for 2 days with my ATO and heat Fine. I came home birdsnest was almost dead and my favia is turning brown from the outside in. Could this be because they're new additions and I run my alk at 11?

Definitely possible, especially if they were in a tank for awhile with low alk and other unmatched perams like PH,Po4,No3, and light intensity. what other corals do you have.

I think it was because where i bought the 2 pieces they ran alk at 8, i run mine at 11. Could they have gotten alk shocked?

other than that my parameters are the EXACT same almost as them. Only alk being different. They run red sea blue I run red sea pro

So could of the alk shock killed it? I mean I got it for free but still sucks to lose a birdsnest and almost lose a splatter Favia

If you still see polyps in the birdsnest, put it in low light for a few weeks.

Can't but ive had brown jelly and this is not brown jelly. Its white skeleton with brown algae around it

Why dip, do you suspect a pest? Put it in low light and let it adjust. Corals are resilient, given a chance to recover.

These guys can recover well. I know of many including myself who have had bleached birdsnest and stylo in which now fully recovered.
Often when water becomes too warm, that alone will cause bleaching. Bleaching is the release or loss of zooxanthellae from coral tissue. Zooxanthellae is acquired by corals via light and water flow. When nutrients are delivered and zooxanhellae is restored, so is the coral.

You can place them in styrofoam box or cardboard w box in the path of blue light at room temperature until you’re ready to acclimate
Float bag in display to first adjust temperature

could i just put it in the corner of the tank with blue light from my kessiL

this happens to any BN frag i buy so i super appreciate all the advice in this thread. gonna wait a few months before i try again.
