BJD or something else

Hello I was wondering is there anything out there that looks like BJD but isnt. I’ve had a hammer with one brown string coming out of it and i Turkey basted it out a month ago and it was fine. Last week I had a torch have the same thing but it seemed to be getting a it worse so I dipped it and it seems to be gone. Is there anything else that can cause small brown strands not come out of the corals other than BJD. Thanks. salinity 33.0. Temp 80. All parented are good.
