Hard to believe this just popped up out of nowhere, and it’s been a week or so since I’ve had a late night flashlight exploration. Noticed this on the base of one of my hammers.

I’ll probably bump this in the morning was awfully late when I noticed it.

I have yet to take on brown jelly disease, the tanks been running almost a year now.

I am not quite sure what we are looking at. Are you looking at the rockwork or the hammer head? BJD is usually on the polpys themselves and not the base.

Second, brown jelly disease usually melts the fleshy part of the coral (the polyps on top), it doesn't affect the skeleton. When the polyp gets killed by BJD it usually looks like a snotty brown bubble has formed over the polyp.
