Looking to use 1/4" black abs in a 20l for a sump. Any thoughts on this

Depends on what you're using it for. is the sump made of abs? cross linking requires special adhesives.

Was going to use it for baffles. I see kits for glass tanks what are they made of? I use to build reptile enclosures out of abs and have everything I need to make stuff out of it.

If its a glass tank, then use glass baffles. second does not adhere well to plastics due to its oily composition. people that usually take a shortcut (not advised) typically use acrylic. abs could work as well though. again, it's a risk though.

I have the glass just need to cut it. I have seen a few businesses on here selling the kits for a 10 or 20 gallon tanks that you silicon in. Didn't know what they used. My last sump I used glass and the black rtv stuff works great.

Those kits are made from acrylic. I made a sump with acrylic similar to the kits that are sold and had no problems with it after a couple of years.

Yeah it can work but it's best to use certain silicone, prepped the glass and plastic and leave a small space in between the glass and plastic. eventually some of the silicone may peel off or develop leaks, sometimes not. that's why it's iffy.

For some reason I thought he was talking about pipe. I did not even know they made it in sheets. Is it really better than acrylic or equal to it? Sounds like more of a hassle. On the other hand if you have access to it cheap or free, it may be the way to go.

Different usages. false walls in aio tanks like the bio cube, and some overflows are abs, for example. either would work for sump baffles, although glass is still best for a glass sump.

I got some pvc sheet cut offs I might try for dividers for a sump.
