Have black algae on my rocks that are effecting some of my corals. Tried syphoning but the algae is on there good. Any recommendations before I pull the rock out and scrub.

Yes skinz. Its only on a few rocks. Wont be able to take picture til late tonight.

Not a sponge. Some of it will blow off so I'm thinking its caked up cyno. Damaged the my Miami pulling it off the rock where this stuff is.

So sponges get hard? Definitely not a sponge. Did some more research and seems to be cyano algae.

I am wondering if it is a type of Coraline. I have a weird type that kind of plates and is a dark maroonish to black color. When my corals grow near it it turns fluorescent orange. I'd post some pic's but I can't capture good one's of it.
