I plan on getting a pair of clownfish as my first saltwater fish as I heard that they are great to start out as and are hardy. One thing is that I saw a very cool looking black and white clownfish. Now I want one but will a black and white one get along with a orange and white clownfish? Or will they be fine even though they are different colors?

You already have a pair so you can’t get a third one but yes you can have different colors paired

Thanks! I dont have even the tank yet but I want to get ALL the info there is so I am prepared!

They are both A. occelaris so which color morph they are won’t matter. The black and white Darwin clowns are technically considered a possible separate subspecies by some, but for your purposes it’s totally fine.

If you look at any designer clowns, you can ignore the colors as long as the species are the same. For example, don’t mix a Lightning Maroon Clown with a Picasso Occlearis, etc....

Just make sure to get one small one and one big one

I have this pairing in one of my tanks with the orange and white being the much bigger female and they get along swimmingly and look amazing.. no apologies for the pun, ha!
Good luck with the hobby, it's great fun. You're doing the best thing by preparing properly as its definitely a journey!!
