Hey all,

I am currently in the middle of a QT process for all of my fish due to some vandalism that required me to reboot my DT. They are all in a therapeutic copper atm.

The problematic tank has 3 tangs(Orange Shoulder, Fowleri, and Dussumieri) in a 55 gallon. Four days ago the Orange and Fowleri both started showing significant black blotches on their bodies. I began treating with Furan-2 and Kanaplex. Tomorrow will be the 5th day and it's slowly getting worse and for the first day in his life, the Orange Shoulder didn't eat. I've also been feeding medicated(General Cure/kanaplex and Selcon) mysis for the past 7 days. I keep the ammonia in the tank at 0 with water changes.

The Dussumieri does pick on the other two, so I will probably have to set up a 7th 55 gallon for him.

I understand copper can slow the antibiotics, so I'm looking for advice if I stop the copper(they show no signs of needing the treatment at this time) or if I continue with the furan/kanaplex?

The current plan right now is to do a 100% water change with the new water containing the 2.0ppm copper, but thoroughly clean the tank before the tangs go back in.

Is there a dip that is recommended that I could do for this while I have them out of the tank?

The attached file is not my Orange Shoulder, but this picture shows the same thing and a better picture than I could take.

Black ich or black spots often associated with tangs.
Focus on water quality, tubullara flatworm .or even an anemone sting Freshwater dip should alleviate this issue

Could be "Tang Fingerprint Disease." No known treatment. The thinking is it is some sort of viral infection.
Some fish heal; some fish don't make it. Thread below.

I'd help the tang's immune system by removing them from the copper, especially if there is no active parasites requiring treatment. Feed high quality food + vitamins and continue with the antibiotics.
