Black Box 165w led light

I install today this BB 165w Led to my 20 gal tank. Is 13 inches from the water surface. Only have softies and lps, the setting right now is 50% blues and 25% whites. Is that a good porcent for start? What is a good porcent to finish at? Any setting andvice for them? I use to have a Aqua Knight 30w Led.

One approach that I have heard and that I have used with these lights is to start at 30/3 and then increase as appropriate based on the response of your tank and inhabitants. Good luck!

I just got one too a few weeks ago. I have mine set at 60 blues and 20 whites and my anemone loves it. I started at 40 blue and 1 white

The ideal way to tell if those percentages are "good" is to use a PAR meter. But who wants to spend $300+ or so on a piece of equipment you only use for five minutes. So, what to do? You can check if a LFS in your area rents the meter, or use what I call, the poor man's PAR meter......a LUX meter. Is it exact....NO! But it will get you in the ballpark. You can find LUX meters for around 15 bucks. HERE is the one I use. With LED's, you'll want a LUX of 20K to 25K.

That was a 65 w the 300 watt.

your starting settings are great,can slowly turn up in time white no higher than 45-50 ,blue 70-80 bump a little each week

I have a lux meter but you can't put them into the water, so all you get is just above the surface. Not sure what good that is

I just set up vipers. I started 60 blue and 5 white. I'm at 65/7 now. Unsure where they really need to go. I'm thinking eventually blue at 70? Whites at 10? or 15? So far, corals are super happy with these.
