I have a 75g with two of the 165w black boxes. They came with wire to mount from ceiling. I do not want to do this. I've seen a few of some of you guys mounts and I'm not quite that talented with metal work.
What are some other ways to hang these lights without a wire from the ceiling?

Assuming you don't have a canopy....

You could install a shelf above the tank and hand the lights from the shelf. If you don't want the shelf, than just use shelf brackets to hang the lights.

There are other options, but the above is a start.

I've seen people use the Giesemann wall brackets, and hang the light from that.

An idea to bounce off....
Our house is a older farm house and we keep from the modern look. I was looking at Lowes. How about mounting black pipe to the wall with a flange and pipe and cap. Similar to these pics:

Would I need to clear coat, or paint to prevent salt corrosion?

I would definitely recommend painting them. Also a couple coats of clear lacquer on top of the paint would be a good idea. Those flanges are fairly big, you will only be able to get 2 holes lined up on a stud. I would make sure those 2 holes had 3 inch screws in them.

Used a closet door track system held up by the two pipes behind the tank and just made and x brace to bolt to the top of the light and added the roller to the top of the x brace
