Black brittle starfish help

Hi, I bought a black brittle starfish about 2 weeks ago and he has not left his cave. I have tried to hand feed him various food but he won't eat it. He holds onto the food but then drops it. I haven't seen him eat or move from him cave. Is he OK? Recommend food? The purple in the picture is just putty holding the rocks.
