I purchased some black-colored silicone tubing, but wonder how safe it is. It's made by Vanguard, but was unable to contact them regarding it. I was told that I likely wouldn't be able to be told the formulation, as it would probably be proprietary, and this was not food grade.

Is this likely to be safe?

Is it necessary to use "food grade" silicone tubing?

Thanks

what are you trying to use it for? I've made my own sump and I used silicone that said waterproof on it. I wasnt looking to hold the tank together. I would look at the tube and see if it says waterproof. I have never had an issue with the silicone doing anything harmful to my tank. Just let it cure for however long it says on the tube before adding water.

This isn't a caulk. It's tubing.
