Black coralline algae

I started seeing these black spots on the coralline algae as seen on the hermit shell. I am thinking it is black coralline algae?

I think the red stuff is red turf algae

Interesting I have very similar looking stuff in my tank but it doesn't grow at all. Here is a picture.

I don't see vermatid, but I didn't sleep last night so

they are not raised at all. flat like coralline.

Vermatid Snails can have black tunes? I didn't know that, but also I don't see anything sticking out of the tubes and since it is a shell it is incredibly common to see random tube worm on since they are always coming in from the wild. Like I said I may be blind, but I just don't see it.

thanks for the ID. I am going to pull a piece of rock out ant check it in the microscope and do a proper inspections.

Black is most likely a sponge. Please post a pic of what you see in the scope!! Love looking at the small things!!

These look very much like vermatid snails with Coraline growing over them. They do look like the tube is raised off of the shell.

Agree! It looks like the coralline is goring around the vermatid tubes but would love to see what is found under the microscope!

Yep that is a Vermatid, not sure why it looks black in the original photo given that the resolution of the shot is so good but cameras are funky.

I rarely see more than 1 or 2 and even at that I have to look very closely as they are covered in coralline and tiny so they blend in quite well with the rocks but there was one time in the 6 years these three have been in the tank when I caught them teaming up.
