Got home from work a little while ago and I just realized there are a bunch of little black dots all around the aquarium and I’m not too sure what they are. It could be snail poop but I thought snail poop was white. Should I be concerned?
I currently have two trochus two Astrea and two hermits.

Also is this a flow issues because I hear that poop is supposed to settle in one place and right now it’s all over the aquarium.

Any help is appreciated!!

Are you running Rox 0.8 activated carbon in a bag in the sump? Sometimes the small pellets come out of the mesh bags and look like black spots on the sand. But, a pic would be helpful since just having to guess...

I am running carbon in my aquaclear. If they are just carbon pellets should I just siphon them out?

Still tough to say - If the aren't moving then I wouldn't worry too much and yes, just siphon them out.

Unless they actually move which could be an array of living pest, may be carbon and carbon dust which is why its recommended to rinse carbon before placing in filter

I washed it pretty good. It’s been in the aquarium since I’ve set it up which is going on 3 months soon. They also aren’t really moving. They’re are a lot of black dots in the tank though.

Blow them loose with aturkey baster or siphon at next cleaning. As long as they dont return, you pretty know then it was nothing of concern

Could it be a form of algae? I just had my diatoms and they’re gone now. This has only appeared since the diatoms left. It’s also like little clumps as well.
Possibly sponges... do they feel squishy?
