Has anyone ever kept these guys I have a guy that is trying to get rid of one. I just have never had one or heard much about them. I already have a zebra eel. I am wandering if I would have to worry about the black edge eating my fish. I will have lions, betta, butterfly fish, few wrasse all under 5 inches, tusk, yellow tang. Any help would be appreciated

I’ve owned one in the past and grew to a little over two feet. I kept it with a large lion fish and a few tangs. In my opinion it probably wouldn’t mess with your fish at first if heavily fed then once it got settled in your butterfly fish and wrasse would be an expensive snack.

I haven't kept one but a friend had one that killed some of his fish. I've read many reports of them being very aggressive. Personally I wouldn't risk it. They seem like an eel that should be kept in a species tank or not at all.

I have had one in a species dominated tank for over say, a year.
He eats six oz fillets of "Barramundi" or Catfish / (etc) per week..

Peaceful to all coral, his feedings cause a Cyano bloom in turn causes
me to eradicate it, in turn must turn on my UV to not face a slow phytobloom!

Very hospitable to the Corals / even the Sandstar/ Hellfire nem.
Luckily he never ventures towards my Glitterbomb Goni, lol.

I keep no other, fish, snails or inverts - he eats everything.. Even Boars Head Wildflower Ham .... That was a interesting situation to say the least, named the lil man Scootie ..
