Found this thing on the bottom of a frag plug holding a red monti cap. I’ve had this frag in the tank for 4-5 months and never noticed it (although I’ve looked under the frag plug a few times since) so don’t think it was a hitchhiker directly from this frag.

Overall it is maybe 1/4” with a number of small black spheres arranged in a mass.
Stocking is -
2 clowns
1 fire fish
1 royal gramma

Inverts include Astrea snails, Nassarius snails, red and blue legged hermits, two emerald crabs; miscellaneous corals (mixed reef).

I don’t dip corals or quarantine so it could certainly be something that tagged along from LFS or online coral vendor.
Thanks in advance!

I have had similar looking growths on undersides of frags at times. I always assumed they were sponges and just remove them. Whether they actually were sponges or eggs or something else i really got no idea, but again never cause me an issue.

Dipping is fine, but if they really are eggs the odds of the dip doing anything useful on them is almost zero.
