So I’m looking at getting the Tunze Ecochic refugium light. It’s 12” long and my fuge area is only 7”. So I was thinking of just taping up one of the ends with black electrical tape. The tape itself is vinyl, so I don’t think I would have any issues there. I’m wondering about the adhesive mainly. I don’t think I would need to submerge it, but even if I have the light hang vertically into the chamber I would still like to cover the first few inches out of the water to avoid spill into other areas. Any other suggestions for covering up an end of the light? Fuge would go in front chamber where marine pure block is. Thanks!

I am sure there might be something better than electrical tape. How about sliding a length of pvc piping over it. Issue would be finding a way to secure it.

I'm sure someone might chime in with a better idea than the pvc, just shooting from the hip for now.

Honestly I might look at other light options, rather than trying to block some light from that one. It’s not a super strong light as it is and trying to cover some of it up is just going to waste power and make the light even weaker. Electrical tape adhesive also tends to turn into a sticky mess over time.

I’m thinking you could find a cheaper and more appropriately sized grow light on amazon

I’ll see what other options there are, as the chamber would only be 5.5”x7”.
