I had a mated pair for about 8 years and the female would draw blood if you put your hand in the tank. However, I had a neon green plastic ruler that she was absolutely terrified of. You'd have to put the ruler in the tank to make her go hide, then you could work. My best theory is that she thought it was a Moray Eel.
