Did you just do a water change? It’s spawning. Sometimes water changes triggers mine to spawn like that.

Define what an Urchin spawning means exactly....

urchins are broadcast spawners. Males release sperm into the water column, females release eggs. They meet in the water column and make baby urchins.

It's releasing sperm into the water, in the instinctive hope that the sperm will mix with eggs that another urchin has released, which would create fertilized eggs and therefore baby urchins. Harmless to everything in the tank.

When my snails get "in the mood", they can turn the whole tank white... LOL
