Hi All,

I'm having an issue with my Nox angelfish and I'm hoping for some help. I've had her for about six months and she's been great, eating coming to feed from my hand and everything. Yesterday though I noticed she only ate a few small Mysis shrimp (She's usually a pig) and was hiding in the rock work. This morning, she didn't come out when I turned the lights on and I decided to put her in QT because she was lethargic and breathing heavily. I think she got grabbed two nights ago by my emerald crab because she has a large tear in one of her ventral fins, and the emerald is quite large. After I QTed her I moved the emerald to isolation in the sump. The angel is still alive, producing a ton of slime and breathing pretty heavily, and tilted about 75 degrees to the surface.

I feed every 2-3 days a combo mysis, brine, mega-marine angel, and nori twice a week for her and the tomini. Ammonia is undetectable by my API (I know), nitrites are 0, and nitrates are about 10ppm. I did a water change on Friday with RODI water and retested my pH on Saturday for 8.1.

If you have any questions let me know and thanks for your help.

Producing a tonne of slime sounds like brooklynella to me, and in my opinion angels need feed a few times a day. Im not sure how to help as it may be something else so hopefully someone else chimes in.
Hope she pulls through for you.

Strange, is she still acting the same?
Yeah, I tossed an air stone in the QT with her now in hopes of getting gas exchange going a little better to help with breathing. I'm considering a freshwater dip later if she's less stressed out. I did a close inspection (She's really good about interacting) and couldn't see anything out of place. (On a side note, shes always had yellow scales behind her gills, is that normal for a Nox?)

Yea its normal for some yellow scales to be there in some specimens

She, unfortunately, passed away when I was sleeping. A hard loss for me. I'm setting up a new tank that's going to have a detached QT and be better setup then my current one. Thanks for your help.

Im really sorry to hear that. Angelfish are such friendly and lovable fish, its very hard to let them go.
