Black out results and experiences

Black out in full effect!

Been battling diatoms on sand bed for some months now and have tried manually removing them with water changes, GFO only small amounts as not to strip my water, reducing duration of lights and reduction on intensity. Haven't tried H2O2 yet, but may.

Not ruling out silicate bleed through the RO/DI, but I haven't tested for silicate. So next step to try is the black out.

So what's you experience with black outs and what's been your out come from your experience?

Believe it or not I just finished up a three day blackout for some algae issues I was having. In the three days I was running my fuge light more then normal to help my chaeto get ahead. And so far after three days my algae has deteriorated by over half. Thinking about doing another three days beginning of next week.

GHA, cyanobacteria, dinoflagellates.......?

How did your fish and coral hold up during the black out?
