Is this bad?Looks somewhat like chunks of carbon. Perhaps it was in your sandbed and got stirred up by something.

Ok, thanks. My husband will add my plumbing for the GFO and Carbon this weekend hopefully.I personally wouldn't worry about it. If you are concerned, just siphon it out.
I figured it out...my chemipure bag was being sucked into the pump. This out a hole in the bag and some of the chemipure got into the tank.If they were sinking pellets, I am betting that overnight you had a massive uprising of either bristle worms or nassarius snails from the sand bed. They dislodged carbon that had gotten buried.
To find out, wait until after dark tonight, put some pellets in and then give it a few minutes and shine a flashlight in the tank.
