hello there , I'm wondering if there are any negative affects to using black sand ! If so what are they and what are some good brands or etc of black sand .

No, it's more of an asthetic choice, I would just to make sure that it's Calcium Carbonate based to help buffer your PH

I have black sand. I heard it is slightly magnetic, so if using a magnet algae remover stay away from the sand bed. It doesn't help buffer. The light isn't reflected off the sand, so it appears less bright than white sand. These are the only "negatives" I can think of. None of them are that bad.

As @germs101 said, it is magnetic so be careful if using a mag cleaner. I love it and have had it for years in a couple tanks
