it shoudl be 100% RTV silicone. it is an adhesive sealant. if you are looking for some, call Glass cages. they sell it. we use it on our Stoves here so I was able to get some here too.
That's what I was thinking, I plan to just use acetone to clean up the leftover before resealing. Am I right that I can cut the old out as long as I do not disturb the seam between the glass and be fine?
yes. you Should be good doing that. I re-did a 225 a fwe years back when I replaced an entire panel and the top braces. I scraped all the silicone off the inside that I could get to and then went back over it with acetone. that glass needs to be perfectly clear. this goes for ALL SEAMS on the inside. if you are just fixing one corner, you need to do it all. NOw, that its clean, get some painters tape and run it around all the edges so you get a perfect edge out of the silicone. with black, it will really show your edges.
Why does ge and dow say they do not recommend their silicone for fish tank?? Is it just a gimic so others can label stuff for fish tank? I called and talked to both. I looked at some of the aquarium stuff and it says not recommended for tanks over 30 gallons. I am either using the dow or the rtv one.
