black slug? any idea what this thing is

I thought it was a sponge of sorts until it relocated. The second is after i touched it. What is it?

elephant snail perhaps? no i was shining a flashlight on it

Do you have any problems with snails being eaten?

Pretty sure they are called elephant snail's type of fleshy limpet. Least that sure looks like a shell on its back

more I look more I think that is what it is.... never seen one... kind of neat looking... can't say I have noticed snails becoming food
