Black snail hitchhiker with plain shell

This guy appeared out of nowhere this morning, he's about 2-3cm across with two very flexible feelers that poke out from under the shell. No idea how he has been hidden all this time! He moves very slowly and seems to almost 'step' with one big movekemo at a time. Appeared to be grazing sandbed.

It does look like a trochus, but the shell just looks nothing like a trochus, can that happen?
