I have had my fish in qt for 4 wks and the orange shoulder started getting what looks like a black briuse on the bottom side and some black spots on the other side that almost form a circle. I did a freshwater dip two days ago on him, no real change. The mimic tang is starting to get the black spots/ ring as well. I did two treatments of praz the first two weeks with water changes in between now in second week of coppersafe. I was wondering if it is black ick. Fish are still eating well so that is at least one plus. There is also a foxface and yellowtail damsel in the tank, nothing wrong with them as far as I can tell.

It shouldn't be black ich since that would have been killed off with the Prazipro. It also tends to look like black specs across the fish.

To me that Mimic Tang looks very thin. Are you sure he is eating well? I'm not sure what the black markings could be but hopefully someone else will chime in soon.

bad pic. Mimic is normal size. orange shoulder is thin, but I didn't know if that was from whatever the black is. You can tell from the pic it just doesn't look good, just don't know what to treat for. Been dosing food with garlic and selcon the last couple of days. They get nori, flakes, or reeffrenzy a couple times a day.

Oops.. I meant the orange shoulder. I need to stay away before I've had my morning coffee!

Unfortunately, I don't know what to advise treating for either.

I don't see the black spots, but I agree that orange shoulder doesn't look good. Maybe internal parasites? I'm just guessing at this point, but if he's eating it wouldn't hurt to feed some food with metroplex/focus in case he's got something going on internally. @Humblefish @melypr1985

X2 this is my course of action suggestion as well.

Also I agree too that's a very thin fish. Do they eat nori?

I agree as well. infection and parasites in the gut. :( Best of luck with the suggested meds.... They are the best bet here.

have them on order. Until they come in I am upping the food and mixing with garlic, hopefully that keeps them happy until the meds get here.

You'd be better off soaking food in selcon or vita chem
