My Oregon blue tort just today started showing black spots and no polyp extension. I always dip my coral in Bayer and coral rx, and the last coral added with a month ago.

The only thing that changed recently was dosing a mixture of DIY kz snow made from 97%calcium carbonate and RODI water.

Alk: 8
Calc: 420
Mag: 1350

I turned up the contrast so you can see them. I don't think they're moving, but I'm unsure.

Are you talking about the bound-up-tight polyps? They can look black. The only spots that I see are from the polyps, but perhaps I am missing something.

How much did your pH spike when you added the Calcium Carbonate mix?

I never checked ph right after dosing. I checked right now and it's 8.2-8.3 using a red sea test kit.

Honestly, I might just be overreacting. My blue tort has NEVER closed up fully like this, so perhaps they're just the coiled polyps.... dang is it the weekend yet?
