Long story short, I am picking up a black tang today. All of my fish are in QT..mostly wrasses because of a velvet outbreak. Ive used copper on zebramosa tangs before but I just want to make sure.

Should be fine but I'd probably wait until you absolutely know the velvet issue is took care of before introducing such an expensive fish especially if they are all quarantined together

Why would u buy a thousand dollar fish when a) u can't keep a new fish for more then a month b) are on the first week of copper treatment for a ich or velvet or brooks I mean u don't even know what u have and I'm pretty sure ur velvet isn't "cleared" in a week. C) u have how many fish in a 39 gallon qt tank now? D) ur renovating ur house e) u can't keep ur corals from rtn or dieing which is because ur alk is to high for bio pellets the Pro salt has a dkh or 12 so everytime u do a water change ur jumping ur alk up from 9 to 12 plus all the buffers ur adding and that's with me only going back on a few of ur post. I'm not trying to be mean or angry actually the reason I was looking at this thread was because I thought u bought the black tang that was at my lfs in jersey that looked like death and that's why u wanted to see if u could use copper. I'm just asking why would u risk putting any fish let alone that one into a loseing situation? Cause that's honestly what it is. If I were u I wouldn't buy anything else at all for the next 63 days I would not put any more fish into a 39 gallon tank and I would just wait and wait and wait and wait then when u get thru the fallow period slowly start to get fish by doing it right. Even if u got a great deal on a black tang why would u buy him looking at ur track record of all ur new fish. I wish u the best of luck. But nothing good comes fast in this hobby and there are plenty of fish in the sea (until we start killing them in our tanks)

First of all, you are way off base. this isn't my first rodeo with disease or anything else. Considering its been two weeks of my fish in copper and haven't lost one or have had any signs of anything . as far as my qt setup, you don't have any info on what I have in there or what the actual size of my fish are. Im well aware of my disease it was and how long my tank will be fallow for. Now, you bring up my corals....what does that have to do with anything, especially since I posted that, what? 4 or 5 weeks ago? Not that it's any concern with this topic but I figured out what the primary issue was and rectified it. We all come here for help and advice, not to get past crap thrown in our face. Maybe I'll go through all your posts and see what kind of "pro reefer" you are.

he'll be ok in copper just like most zebrasomas. You will have to start the 30 day clock over again and watch for any other diseases he might have brought in with him... like flukes, bacteriums ect. Good luck with him! They are beautiful fish :)

Some zebrasoma are copper sensitive say 1/20 IME. Increase very slowly, when this is done your risk is minimal.

Adding a $1000 fish to a qt with a therapeutic dose of copper is not the best of ideas. Increasing it over 5 days from zero is best practice.

I have been in the process of cycling a second Qt tank for a few weeks now, its small, but its for him and and a few smaller wrasses.
