Black wall or Corraline Algae

Black wall covered in coralline algae.
Then you get your own rendition of Van Gogh's Starry Night.
+1 for this. I try to keep coralline off the front glass but the sides and back tend to be fair game. I'll scrap half of one side since it's visible around furniture but because my tank sits in the corner the other side is against the wall.

a deep tank will give you depth, constantly cleaning the back glass as much as i clean the front and sides would be a PITA!! i vote c.a covered and let the snails do the work from there.

It's almost an effort in futility trying to keep the back 100% clean. You're still going to end up with the overflow corners, comb weir and outlets covered in bright purple coralline.
I hear ya. It's work keeping it off. I still used to do it on the reef tanks 120g and 150g previously and smaller ones through the years. Probably OCDish on my end totally (I accept that lol) but I think that why I keep going away from reefs. They always seem to have needs more maintenance look to them.. I have two acrylic tanks now (fowlr) so no coralline worries since I don't have anything bringing it in..all caribsea rocks.

It is. I put my parrotfish to work on the overflow, or rather - he "availed himself" to the opportunity to help rid me of some of my coralline algae. The sound of his little beak scraping and grinding away at the algae always alerts me to his activities!

I like it black. I don’t mind cleaning it. It helps to make the corals and fish colours pop!

Wall covered with corals ;) .

I can see through my back wall, my sides are obscured by rocks and I have started to let zoas utilize the space.
