Here is a black widow I've had for a few weeks. I have only recently notice that the center is no longer black.

Any ideas whats going on here?

It looks an awful lot like your standard RBTA to me. I don't even know what a "Black Widow" anemone is.

Hello,

That looks like a rose colored bubble tip anemonie like mine. Here is a pic of mine atm, under brights.

No, that is a black widow.

Sarah, yours is what we would call a rainbow because of the green base. Back in the day a rose bubble tip was all red/purple but no green. I know now most vendors sell all bubble tips as RBTA. True roses sell for more money wholesale and retail.

Why your BW is paling that is hard to say. Are you feeding it? What kind of light is it getting, intensity/type/duration? What are your nutrient levels?

Hello,

That’s good to know, I didn’t know that, see she can be taught. So I’m curious as to what mine is then as well lol.

I've been feeding it twice a week, tuesday / friday. Mainly Mysis Shrimp.
AP700 lightning with 50% intensity for 2 hours (hung about 10 inch off water).

The only parameter that is currently low is calcium. dropped from 410 to 380. Which I am about to dose for.
I am also dosing polylab reef-fresh.

Still looking for any ideas

Might have figured it out. Looks like the color darken when its more closed up. When its open wide the color tend to shade out.

I’ve read that when it fans out it isn’t getting enough light source so it’s spreading to get as much light as possible. May want to check it with a par meter.

I read when it’s opened wide it’s not getting enough light so it spread it’s self out.
