Black widow anemone should I buy?

One of my lfs has a half off sale right now for one of these, from 300 to 150 my question is do you guys think it’s worth it? i’ve never seen one in person and i’d rather not make the drive unless i’m buying. I’ll post a picture of the anemone in question from their website not sure if it’s wysiwyg

I have four rainbow bta’s already in my sump as well so not sure if they will warfare each other but the plan would be keep the BW in the DT or move to my nano tank. Is it worth the price? what’s the resale market looking like?

I was just speaking a guy I trust at my LFS today about one of these he told me not to get one with any other kind of anemone. He said it was the only one that couldn’t be mixed with different ones and he didn’t believe it and yes it killed BTA and sebae in his tank. Of coarse this is all anecdotal but he could have sold me an expensive anemone today and didn’t.

I was just speaking a guy I trust at my LFS today about one of these he told me not to get one with any other kind of anemone. He said it was the only one that couldn’t be mixed with different ones and he didn’t believe it and yes it killed BTA and sebae in his tank. Of coarse this is all anecdotal but he could have sold me an expensive anemone today and didn’t.

alright if i do end up getting it it’ll live in my nano thanks for the heads up

Anecdotes can be problematic. I have a black widow sitting cozy with a rainbow and no evidence so far of warfare. I just put in carbon yesterday after a 6 week Flux treatment so the tank has been without carbon and water changes. Knock on wood. But, I think it comes down to luck and good observation.

thanks for the info, im gonna throw it in a bowl in the DT and see how’s the btas down below respond to it. Hopefully well and i’ll be able to throw it down there too. Running carbon and gfo

You also can look at it this way... 6 months you will have two, 1 year you will have 4-8.
Just watched a RB video with Remy. He did a profile on a guys system and he had a tank with over 200! He also sells 4-5 a week!

Agreed. I'd be cautious moving forward with new nems. If trouble, get a nem cannon and get the troublemaker out.

I keep all my anemones tanks with one type for each tank . You can mix them but I have heard of one type thriving and the other type fading away chemical war . But every tank is different some people may have success mixing them. You have picked a lovely anemone Black widow imo I would not mix it won’t be long and it will split . My BTA have been at it this week splitting you end up over run eventually. Good luck
