Please help ID. I've had this for years and I've heard them called both. Any help on ID would be awesome. Pictures are with filter and blue light.
Thanks

It's honestly impossible to tell what lineage an anemone is without knowing what you got it as. The way I see it, there are just two main colors of BTA (rose and brown) and each group has a few exceptional specimens (think "fancy" rainbow anemones and green/white tipped ones respectively). The names are basically arbitrary. Take a "sunburst" anemone and a "sherman" anemone, put them in the same tank for a year, and they'll look almost identical. If you're looking to sell them, "black widow" is probably most accurate. Feel free to call them whatever you like though, they all look similar under the same lighting and parameters. Very nice anemones, BTW.

The picture you posted is what I bought as a "black widow" recently. I put it in my tank and my other RBTA have, honestly, more impressive coloration. I'll give the new nem a while to color up but won't fall for that again.
