Black worms all turned white and calcified...

Just got back from a 5 day trip. All snails, hermits, my clown and my zoas are happy as can be. BUT, all the black worms that I had gotten in on a plug are dead. I had hundreds that had been thriving for about a month. Now all of a sudden, they all turned into a white skeleton and are dead. Any ideas? I will test when I get home if needed.

Normal feeder blackworms last about 10s in saltwater.

Huh, weird, @KJ said they were black worms. And they lasted about a month alive in my tank. My clown ate them but they multiplied. And then died

Must be different worms. The feeder type Black worms are fresh water and die quickly as soon as they go into saltwater. A picture will help.

I don't see how the clown didn't eat all the worms faster than they could multiply, unless they didn't taste very good or something. Most fish can't resist a wriggling worm.

I still don't have a clue. What plug? and what kind of worms come on Zoa,s? Blackworms are freshwater worms and don't live on plugs, they come in a cup.

Maybe it's me. What am I not getting?

The worms cage in on a frag plug that had zoas on it. And I don’t know what the worms are. KJ Identified them as black worms. Obviously they are not. And they all died. Was just trying to find out why.

Aha, now I get it. Thank you. They are not "really black worms" that we all call black worms. You are talking about some sort of salt water worm.
