Hey guys and gals,

My buddy texted me earlier saying he has these black worms that hitchhiked off of a piece of live rock he added a few months ago. I have been scoping the web looking for a ID for the last couple hours to no results. Wondering if one of you could help me identify it for we can figure out a possible way to wipe them out.

Thanks,
Matt

Not sure how to edit post on app, but they range in size, the biggest being the size of a quarter to half dollar. They’re eating his corals and causing hit tank to go downhill.

Can we get a pic out of tank in water and both sides of the critter? Please

looks like baby black sea hares to me because of the little horn like thing on top of their head. never seen them so small so i am not sure but thats what it looks like to me

I’m thinking they might be elephant slugs and it’s a coincidence that the coral was dying and they possibly cleaned off the dead flesh? The only thing is he hasn’t seen them expose a shell. I’m going to try to stop by his house in a few to get a better look at them.

Good call, could be elephant slugs for sure. Should be reef safe-ish either way from what I was reading. Keep us updated I'm definately curious

They look to be eating corals, not sure what they are, they seem to multiplying by splitting off of each other.

Dont be modest ...;) :)
We just love this hobby and very much enjoy helping each other with the ID`S of strange animals, they are so cool! Every day there are new discoveries of marine life.
I thank you for the compliments but there are still so much that I don`t know yet! Mother nature is awesome! Thanks to you and @Lovemyreef2015 for the ID`s on the hitch hikers , i know myself sometimes the research on this hobby can be difficult and lead to many hours online! I have had such a heavy work schedule lately , I haven`t had much time so sorry for my absence but you guys are doing an amazing job on ID`s, I really appreciate that.
