I’ve been messin with my light some lately I tryed the lenses off I really like the spread and colors but corals didn’t seem to like it to well. So I put the lenses back on atm I have light 16” off water line. Nems still seem ticked and deflated but do you think they will adjust and I have a green Birdsnest mid way in the tank. My tank is a 40g half moon that’s 27” deep. Running the light 100% blue and like 5 white. What’s your light settings

The lens might have restricted some light so taking them off might have jumped par. If they were fine before under this setting temperature will bounce back. Nems will move if hating life. I had a black box over a 65 whites on 15% blues 75% and kept clams and some acro and a tri color birdsnest fine

What’s your settings and height

I have my viparspectras at 8 or 9“ off the water 68 blue 17 white. anemone is happy and sps all seem happy

At 15” nems seem to be doing better might raise them just a hair more to maybe 16-17 see if I can get them come out a little more don’t really wanna mess with my percentage

Any thoughts

Anyone

I'm interested in getting that light few questions, how big is your tank, how loud are the fans, is the quality good, and do corals look nice with it?

Just stop making changes.
It takes months for photosynthetic organisms to adjust for each change you make.
Set them and forget them.
Small 5% changes over a min of one month is fine.
Taking the lenses out of CBB is not a good thing unless you are going to reblend the light with T5, and still, a dumb idea, your trying to diffuse the light, not focus it.
All CBB with their 50-60 3 watt LED need to run higher....14-24” in some cases to achieve this blended spectrum.
The lowest for me and Visparspectra was 14” off water, 22 inches to bottom, otherwise they pushed so much PAR they would easily fry anything right underneath.

what are your settings? The par would have dropped in the middle and increased at the edges by taking off the lenses. At least what I have seen happen when measuring with a par meter. It can take days sometimes weeks for coral to adjust to changes. What is the time frame we are talking? Mounting height and settings without lenses?

check out @telegraham on instragram and you tube. He has done some good testing on budget lights with and without lenses.

@Dominic M the fans aren’t any louder than the ice cap gyre 4ks. Actually I hear the ice caps more than the lighting fans. I’ve had them since late Jan 2019, no problems with them other than the clocks on them Seems to lose sync and every few months need to be adjusted, the last time my clock was out over 15 minutes.
do the corals looks good? To me yes, but the tank doesn’t look as good as some higher end lighting like radions in my opinion. They lack some bells and whistles. they do grow coral, i don’t have any disco ball effects. Tank is 120, 5’ and roughly 26-28” deep.
for a discount light that has similar spectrum to lights that cost 10x more you can’t beat it.

Nice, I got a 29 gallon (18in deep) so that would probably be good, yeah im not looking for anything fancy just need something thats not too loud grows coral and looks decent.
