My blasto looks wierd. It used to be a pretty ball but now it looks like it has a fungus disease and is melting. I was thinking maybe my peppermint shrimp was snacking on it. Not sure. It still opens it just looks terrible.

What do you guys think?

Had the same problem about two weeks ago . I caught the peppermint shrimp on the blastos and acans .

It is melting but i do not think you can blame the shrimp. They may have sensed the coral was rotting like a buzzard. They are natures clean up crew. When shrimp do pick at corals they will have wounds not like that.

The shrimp is a scavenger. It knows when something is unhealthy or dying off and will take advantage of it. The shrimp isn't what caused the problem, it's just being opportunistic and getting an easy meal.

How's your calcium levels? Salinity? Did you change lighting recently (new bulbs/new fixture, etc)?

I would check other perimeters. Coral melting generally means something is not right. How long have you had it? I have seen corals melt for looked like no reason at LFS. But they were new corals that just did not ship well.

Yes 1.025 lol. I have had the coral or about 4 months. I touched the part that looks droopy and it's hard. The poylps still open good. Makes no sense.

During the 4 months has it been moved around? Ive had candy canes do similar but it was moved around. Lighting is what caused it for my candy coral.. And the shrimp was just eating the dying tissue. Although that is the reason my tanks dont have shrimp
