I had a plug of plating montipora come unglued and land on my lobo. He ate his face! I'm hoping the skin on the monti will recover, anyone think that will happen?

That's actually a pavona rather than a monti, and it looks like the damage was minimal, so it should be fine.

Not the same family, but in the same order. Thanks a lot! I believe it is in the monti family though, correct(I am totally unsure)? I never write the names down when I buy them so I always forget. Appreciate the info.
pavona corals are pretty hardy, so you should see it recover pretty quick. Glad to help!I would cut the dead piece off and dip in a coral dip, but it will probably just be fine if left alone. Reason for cutting and dipping is I've had the same thing happen before more than once and although most times they recover fine if left alone I've had 1 that got what I guess was an infection or something from the attack and the dead zone kept expanding until I cut it of and dipped it.
I just use my fishing dikes and do it a hair below the dead spot, a little into good tissue then dip.How would you cut it?
