It's hard to share failures but this poor thing is an epic failure.
Long story short, a transparent sponge encroached on this guy and he stopped opening, then it gradually started to recede. It used to have two mouths and a tiny head on the side but now has just one small mouth that doesn't give any appreciable feeding response.
I've tried clearing the algae from the exposed skeleton but it comes back with a vengeance every time. I've tried feeding it everything from frozen fish eggs to Reef-Roids and Benepets to help it regain its strength, but as mentioned, the feeding response is next to zero.
I'm contemplating getting out the Dremel and removing the dead skeleton on both ends to give it some relief from the algae but I'm not sure if that might cause more harm than good and end up encouraging further tissue recession.
Any hope for this poor thing? Any kind of triage that might be helpful here?
I've had it 7 months and it was a favorite.
