Not sure if this is the right place to post but here we go.

second round of disease that has wiped out my tank.
Im done, over it. I don't want to wait another 90 days just to have it pop up again.

so im setting up a larger QT and getting all the meds ready.

for the DT
can I empty the substrate, rock, water .
then
fill it up with tap water and mix it with bleach ( 1 to 1, 5 to 1, not sure yet) and run the thermometer up and let it just run for a few days. empty it and do one more round of that.
then
rinse the tank/add a dechlorinator.
then
fill it back up, new rock/substrate and begin the cycle over again?

Oh, yeah, you should be ok then. I'd scrub the tank really well, using PPE, but not too much to damage it. It might take a bit of time for the chlorine/bleach to fade. I'd fill it, prime it, let it sit for a few days, drain it, and smell it to see if all the chlorine/bleach is gone. That's what I do with my 29g and 20g monitor tanks. Sometimes I have to leave them in the sun for a few hours, then do it again.

Basically you are cleaning it like a QT tank, minus worrying about medications that might be hanging around in there. Any tips from QT cleaning you can find in here might help you.

In addition, completely separately (don't mix chemicals), if there was a ton of algae, I'll spritz some hydrogen peroxide and a good scrubbing on the power heads too if you are going reuse them, to make sure it doesn't carry over.

I was going to leave all the equipment in there too and let that circulate with the bleach water just running the tank like its set up. . good idea?

I'd say I would NOT do that.

Be careful with any metal components, as the bleach will oxidize anything metal that can corrode. E.g. metal shafts in the powerheads. I'd clean those components individually.

what would you recommend cleaning the return pump, powerhead, skimmer,, Clarissa, UV sterilizer with?

I imagine I need it to cycle to ensure there is no remnants of the ice/whatever in the overflow or the pipes..?

Honestly, I'd use vinegar or citric acid soak on what can be soaked, a good scrubbing, followed by a rinse and run in water buckets overnight. I'd then spritz and scrub them with hydrogen peroxide, scrub, rinse, and then you should be good. If you want to do a bleach dip for a few minutes (after removing all other chemicals) and then run them in water with prime overnight. I'm pretty sure that should kill just about anything.

you uh....dont plan on being in Michigan anytime soon....do ya?:p

Dry the tank out, wipe it down with viniger.

Clean all your equipment the same way, then let it dry for a few days.

Then wipe it all down again with viniger. Let it completely dry again, then you’ll be good to go.

Bleaching and all that stuff isn’t necessary, at least I don’t believe so.

Soon as it’s dry fro x amount of hours, anything in there will die regardless.
