Bleached Anemone? Picture taken from the ocean.

We always say that white or really light colored anemones are bleached. So is this anemone bleached? It's a picture taken from the ocean by National Geographic. Looks healthy to me.

I'd say that it is.

One, there are hints of color in the top upper parts of the tentecals, hinting that there is color pigmentation in the tissue. Second, even in captivity, white ones like this never do well, even when kept under natural sunlighting and things, they always tend to color back up.

My assumption about this one is that is was a split and when it split it became severly stressed and lost its color and is in the process of getting its color back.

We'd need pictures of the rest of the location to actually know, but it definitely appears bleached to me. It may have been on a rock that fell and was shaded for awhile, or in a location on the reef that went through a bad time.
