I recently was given a rainbow bubble-tip anemone by my LFS because it was dying. I am trying to nurse it back to health. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for restoring this little guy. I would really like for him to survive. Thanks!

he is attached to the rock that is a very good thing. Have you read amoos sticky threads in clown and anemones forum.

I would give it 1-2 weeks to acclimate and then began feedings

Feed a small piece of shrimp or scallop every 2-3 days. You don’t want to over feed as they will just end up spitting it back out. But food and water parameters will be very important.

Just my opinion, but I would not wait. Without the zoothanzelle, photosynthesis won't help it, thus it will be without food it needs.
The zooanthelle can be absorbed. Try feeding the tank roids. My nem swells up absorbing it

Someone gave me advice on feeding bleached nems. They will not be sticky enough upside down, so when you feed you actually have to turn off the flow, flip the anemone, and place the food on the top of it so it easts. And definitely don’t wait. Start feeding now

I've had two bta's bleach and fully recover to be beautiful again.

The only thing I did was feed them daily, small pieces of raw shrimp that I bought from the grocery store, and give them time.

I agree. I fed SMALL piece of food daily to every other day to build my rescue anemone back up. If you notice it puking food back up, spread out the feedings a day or two more. Feed nothing larger than the anemone's mouth. I fed scallops to my sick anemones as scallops are soft and easy to digest. Also, at least for my anemone, the scallops were readily taken over shrimp. As it recovers its zoothanzelle, it should get more color, so don't forget to provide adequate lighting or the likelihood of the anemone recovering and/or living long term will go way down. Good luck! I hope you are able to save the little one. :)

If it's attached that means detaching it every time. That will put a lot of stress on the nem

Or just flip the rock and place it back after feeding. If that anemone isn’t fed it will die. If he detaches it and places it into a cup with holes, attached to the side of the tank, it will make feeding it much easier.

I agree this poor guy needs food. If possible I would feed a more liquid diet like oyster feast. He needs something easy right now. Another choice is reef roids in a paste...not sure he can digest thick foods right now. What's your water temp?

Thank you guys for the responses! Unfortunately he is on a rock that can not be flipped over so I can’t flip him to feed. But my water temperature is 78 degrees.

New problem. I went to the store and got some shrimp that I was going to try to cut into small pieces and feed it. However now he is completely closed. Any suggestions?
