bleached or transit stressed frag recovery

Hi, I received a frag after being in transit for 6 days it appeared to be stripped but I noticed it had polyps will it recover some colour and if so how long will it take and is there anything I can do to help.

Yes as long it has PE this could recover.
Place it low in the tank with medium to low flow.

Many thanks I will put it there now. I did try high up under blues/actinics for several weeks and also dipped it in chroma but it made little or no difference.

If you have it already for a few weeks than putting it low doesn’t make sense anymore.
Can I ask what your nutrients are in your tank?

Lower, high quality light. Stable paramters. When it starts to recover, then give it incrementally more light. Other than that, leave it alone.

High flow, mid light until it colors up, you can feed it little to help it along. Other than that just leave it be and give it time.

Hi , yes I have had it a few weeks its been on a frag rack at the back of the tank under a Orphek v4 and actinic reefbar I have not been able to see or take a pic of any changes only that the polyps were out. I put it low down at the front yesterday and under blues last night you could see a blue and yellow tone to the tips. My nutrients are N =zero reading on salifert but I feed heavily a lot fish and P =0.018 and have good colour on sps in tank. This is what it looked like prior to shipping or led to believe it did.

You low on your No3.
If feeding won’t help you need to dose a bit of the nitrates.

Hi,
I believe I have nitrates with the feed that's going in ,all my other sps have good colour and growth .In the past I have dosed kno3 which made no difference .I also use AA ,reef roids , coral booster . I have never had a coral with no colour and polyps out before so did not know if its just time or I could do something to aid its recovery.

I've had fully bleached hard corals (acropora and seriatopora) take up to three months to even turn brown, let alone to fully cover. I echo the recommendations of everyone above. Stable parameters and mid light and flow should do the trick. It sounds like your tank does well with SPS, so time is going to be the main trick to getting the coral happy again.

My nutrients are N =zero reading on salifert

I’m confused.
You might have some as you never ever be zero on nutrients.
But testing zero means your low.
That is only if your N stands for No3.
Advisable is for everyone 2ppm, mixed SPS at least 5ppm or higher.

Throughput is more important than a number on a test kit. Heavy import and heavy export are the key. You are fine.

I have .1 N, which has to be found using an IC test, and all of my stuff grows like crazy and has great color. I have 15 fish and keep them well fed. This is better than having 1.0N or even 10N and feeding the same amount since I have not inhibited calcification or zoox development.
