Hello, I bought a bta a few months back and was doing great, it was in my 60 cube, but I recently downsized tank to use the tank for a lionfish. It was doing okay for a few days then it disappeared. I found it today in a really deep crevice and it was shrunken. I've moved it into a small breeder for fish and it seems open now, the base of it has its colour but the tenticals are sort of white. Is it bleaching? How do I save it? I can't test my water as I'm out of tests but everything else seems fine including my starfish which don't do well to change. I need to order new tests tonight as I can't go to my lfs. Any opinions?

I would feed it some foods and maybe something like reef energy (or soak food in that or vitachem). There is a bottle of zooxanthellae from phycopure that might help.

So you moved the nem into a brand new tank? Hate to say it but probably won't make it. I had a horrible time even at 6 months old. They like an established environment

Yes, but its the same filter, and other equipment from the old tank. Same lr, live sand etc. I even put about 50 percent of the old tank water in. The old tank was around a year old but as I said I wanted it to be a dwarf lionfish tank so the new tank is a 10g for my clown pair and watchman goby.

Its moved slightly overnight and its foot is stretched really far but the anemone is so flat. I'm not sure whats up with it. The base seems to have alot more colour and the foots still nice and pink, I can barley see the tenticals but I can see the tips of some of them are pink. Ill try upload a photo.

I will feed it some brineshrimp, it might be hard as its tenticals are in and its so flat, should I just drop it in its mouth?

From my experience that one is past the point of return. Unfortunately moving tanks even with the same everything is hard on nems because parameters change. Hope for the best keep everything stable I wouldn’t feed but keep it under strong lighting

I don't think food is going to do the trick. Sorry but nems like things old and established and the move probably stressed it also. May also want to think about the welfare of the fish too. Clowns should be in a 20g and the ywg should be in a 30.

Yea its at the very top of the tank under the light. Hopefully it pulls through, if not it will be easy to remove as its in a contained area.

Its a pair of occys, there about 2 to 3inches. I have other tanks to be set up they will eventually be going into a 5ft tank thats in storage just now

Still sad to lose something though ill wait another year or so before getting a new one

Is there a foul smell coming from the tank ?
I’ve never seen them that flat . Ever even if they are extremely unhappy .

what lights are you using ?

generally when a anemone is stretched out its trying to absorb more light

I wouldn’t feed it too much as digesting food uses a lot of energy . Feed smaller amounts

No, I even brought the tub out of the water and smelled it. No smell at all, still sticky aswell. I'm using ai prime HD which has worked really well and are at full intensity tight now. And as this is a shallower tank there is more light than before in the 60g which was doing great in. Its still crawling around although it hasn't moved for a few hours

I wouldn’t run it at higher intensity especially in a basket closer to the top .
It doesn’t have a rock to crawl under of too bright .

Hmm in that case I would try reef energy as it doesn't have to grab and digest the food like it would the brine shrimp.

I put a single bit of brine shrimp in it and it just floated away so I added some coral food so its suspended in the water. It has moved slightly and very slightly inflated.

I'll give it a few more days, if it looks any better ill put it back in the tank

Its starting to inflate, slowly but surely, I can see all of the tenticals starting to come out. I'm thinking he might have been trying to get used to the new tank.it looks better now but still not great. Hopefully it pulls through

I’d lower the intensity of the lights. .
Make sure all pumps have guards or covers and monitor its condition
