I have two birdsnests in my tank. My wife liked them (she calls them fuzzy twigs). The larger one seems to be doing great. The smaller one has good PE but the tips are all white (larger one has slightly white tips but it's lighter color anyhow so its harder to tell). I was just wondering if it was bleaching from to much light or if that is normal....

It has had a rough life. Been knocked to the bottom of the tank and upside down at least 5 times. i finally put it on the frag rack.

Have you moved or changed anything? Lights, placement?
How long have you had it?

From looks I also agree it looks more like growth as Steve pointed out

The coral on the left looks like a "birdsnest." The one on the right looks like pocillapora. From the provided pics I don't see any tissue loss.

I thought it was a birds nest but I have only been at this since december.. it looks exactly like the other one except it's darker. Here is a better picture.

They do look similar. I do think the one on left, now, is a pocillapora. Similar lighting and flow. Also similar appearance and growth pattern. But, again, I don't see anything that looks like a sign of stress. The birdsnest may be bleaching a bit, could just be the way the camera picked up the lighting. I'm thinking that BN should be darker green.

I can't take pictures very well and I'm using a cell phone camera. The birds nest is washed out by the light it's not really white like it appears (lighter green polyps than the pocillapora though). It's body is pinkish tan and not near as white as the tips on the pocillapora.

I hear ya with cell phone pics:)

I think all is well here. Maybe give a few days, take another pic and repost.
