I had a 90g tank in my garage that that I neglected and the tank had an aptasia infestation as well as bubble algae and turf algae outbreaks. I tore down the tank and am in the process of a new 80g build that will be in the house. I want to use the same rock, and I chose the bleaching method to clean the rock. Have done muriatic acid in the past and didn't like the amount of rock I lost.
I'm doing a couple of batches of rock with the bleach in a brute trashcan with a full gallon of bleach for more than a week. I then let the rock dry outside for 2 weeks and now have my first batch sitting in rodi with dechlorinator even though my test strip read 0 for chlorine. My question is some of the rocks still have signs of sponges, turf algae and bubble algae but they are totally white or clear after 10 days in the bleach. Do I have to be concerned with this or is it dead? Should I soak longer or add more bleach? Should all of the dead algae fall off rock or dissentegrate to be cured? I have taken a scrub brush to the rock when taken out of bleach and after sitting in the sun and dry ,but "dead" algae not totally coming off. Suggestions for next steps prior to putting in tank for cycling? Included some photos:
1. Turf algae and bubble algae floating in brute but some stay attached to rock.
2, A rock I just took out today after 10 day bleach soak
3. First batch of rock been soaking for a week in rodi with dechlorinator.
4.Rock I took out after bleach soak and sitting in sun for full day and scrubbed with brush

I would scrob off the rock with a non metal brush. I'd be happy if most came off, some will stick well and getting every last bit is a lot of unnecessary work IMO
