Bleaching/Necrosis Help

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone help ID what might potentially be causing this bleaching?

I dipped in Coral Rx after a 1 hour drip acclimation. I’m running a Radion XR15 and MP20 at about 65% Reef Crest. I’m running the XR15 at 60% of its maximum output and it’s on an acclimation cycle of 2 weeks since getting this shipment.

Water chemistry this morning:

Salinity: 34ppt
pH: 8.0
dKH: 9-10
Ca: 440
NH4: 0ppm
NO2: 0ppm
NO3: 0ppm
PO4: 0-.25ppm

Any thoughts on what I can do (or not do) to help this guy not bleach anymore would be greatly appreciated!

I've seen that sort of necrosis happen when a coral like that was mishandled and touched too hard in a particular spot, leading to the tissue being torn by the underlying skeleton. Not saying that's what happened, but it is a possibility. Happens a lot with corals like goniopora if you're not careful.
Some LPS can also exhibit signs of shock when they go from a "dirty" water source to a very low nutrient one like your test results are showing.

I've noticed that your rocks are very white, how old is your tank? You may need to put some more nutrients in the water to get it to fluff and color back up. Try feeding the coral itself or treat your fish to a bit more food when you feed them again.
